V E Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations

Saturday 10th May 2025 marked a very special occasion in our village, as over 100 residents joined the BAVG Volunteers at the village hall to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

The event was a wonderful mix of community spirit, music, and celebration. The Enderby Concert Band set the tone with a fantastic live performance, while guests enjoyed singing, dancing, a fun-filled quiz, and a delicious afternoon tea – complete with some celebratory fizz!

One of the highlights of the day was a beautifully preserved 1945 American Jeep on display in the car park, kindly loaned by a local resident. It proved a popular backdrop for photos and added an authentic wartime touch to the event.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to:

  • Enderby Concert Band for their uplifting music

  • Broughton Astley W.I. for the mouthwatering cakes

  • All our amazing volunteers and visitors who brought energy, warmth, and smiles to the day

It was truly a celebration to remember—thank you to everyone who helped make it so special.
